Espoo Museum of Modern Art
Espoo Day | Street Art and Heroes from Nairobi
Make graffiti art with street artists, walk the streets of Nairobi using VR glasses and visit all the exhibitions for free!
PROGRAMME:
12–15 | On the streets of Nairobi via VR glasses!
How do you believe in something better when life is giving you a hard time? Young people who grew up homeless in Nairobi survived the streets, jail and a spiral of addiction. In a cooperation project with the Helinä Rautavaara Museum, they familiarised themselves with the problems faced by Finnish youth and created a touching exhibition that aims to offer relatable and hopeful insights.
You can now step into the streets of Nairobi using VR glasses and experience the one-day exhibition From Zero to Hero in the lobby of the WeeGee house in a pop-up of the Helinä Rautavaara Museum. Journalist Kaisa Viitanen will also talk about the creation of the exhibition.
You can visit the exhibition according to your own schedule.
12–16 | Try your hand at graffiti-making at WeeGee
Street artists Pete “Hende” Nieminen and Marko “Acton” Saarelainen will be running a non-stop graffiti workshop. No prior experience is necessary. Come and paint graffiti in WeeGee’s yard!
11–15 | Meet Mr. Clutterbuck
Mr. Clutterbuck known from Mauri Kunnas’s books, arrives at WeeGee to be met and hugged! Show Mr. Clutterbuck your best sleepwalking moves and take a picture together. Mr. Clutterbuck can be met in various places around WeeGee.
