Accessibility

EMMA is an accessible museum. The exhibitions in the 2nd floor are conveniently accessible by lift and the circulation route is threshold-free with ample space for assistive devices. Strollers, wheelchairs and walkers are available for loan at the entrance. Our personnel will be happy to assist.

Arrival at the museum: There are three accessible parking spaces in front of the exhibition centre, next to the loading dock. The main entrance is accessible, and the door on the left side of the entrance is automated.

Lift: The accessible lift to other floors is located next to the café in the lobby, on the right when entering through the main doors. The lift is very spacious.

Toilet: Accessible toilets are available on each floor of the WeeGee Exhibition Centre:

  • Ground floor (K)
  • 1st floor, next to the café and near the Collection Kakkonen exhibition
  • 2nd floor, next to the Mauri Kunnas exhibition

The gender-neutral toilet is located on the 1st floor, near the Collection Kakkonen exhibition

Wheelchair: The spacious and barrier-free exhibition galleries are easily accessible for wheelchair users. Wheelchairs and walkers are available for loan at the entrance.

Guide dogs: Guide dogs and assistance dogs are welcome.

Assistants: Personal assistants receive free admission to EMMA and other venues in the WeeGee Exhibition Centre.

Childcare: The childcare room is located on the ground floor (K), next to the toilets. Baby changing tables are available in the accessible toilet next to the café on the 1st floor and in the accessible toilet on the 2nd floor.

Cloakroom: There are free lockers on the ground floor and a self-service cloakroom at basement level (K). Please stow winter coats, umbrellas, large bags, backpacks and bike helmets in the lockers or the cloakroom.

Free Entry Fridays: Admission to the WeeGee Exhibition Centre is free every Friday from 15:00 to 19:00. From 1 September 1 to 30 April, free admission is extended until 21:00 on the first Friday of every month.

Guided tours and workshops: Bookable guided tours and workshops can be tailored to the needs of your group. Please let us know your preferences when booking. The tours and workshops are available in Finnish, plain Finnish, English, and Swedish. The museum has a voice amplifier for the tour guide, which must be booked in advance through EMMA customer service.

Kaikukortti: Holders of the Kaikukortti card have free admission to EMMA and other venues in the WeeGee Exhibition Centre.

Museum shop: The EMMA Shop is on the ground floor.

Online content: EMMA continuously adds new materials online for you to enjoy from anywhere in the world. You can find mobile guides to the exhibitions on the EMMA website. The EMMA Zone digital museum service is at www.emmazone.fi

Plain Finnish: Texts about many of our exhibitions are available in plain Finnish both in the museum and online.

Quiet room: Visitors are welcome to use the museum’s quiet room on request. Please contact our personnel.

Restaurant: The restaurant is on the ground floor.

Soundscape in the museum: The museum space is built of concrete and can be noisy. Some of the artworks can also produce sounds. Please ask our staff for earplugs if needed.

Strollers: Strollers are allowed in the exhibition galleries. You can also borrow one from the lobby.

Taxi: Taxis for the disabled can leave and pick up museum visitors at the main entrance. The address when ordering a taxi is Ahertajantie 5, Espoo.
