For two decades, Exhibition Centre WeeGee, EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art and KAMU Espoo City Museum have welcomed visitors to enjoy art, history, and design in Tapiola, Espoo. To mark the anniversary, the exhibition centre will be filled with events and activities throughout the week from 13–18 October 2026.

The celebrations kick off on Tuesday 13 October, exactly 20 years after Exhibition Centre WeeGee first opened its doors. On its actual birthday, the museums will offer coffee and cake to the first 100 visitors, as well as free admission from 11am to 5pm. The first day of celebrations will focus on WeeGee and its iconic concrete brutalist architecture, explored through guided tours and a lecture. Designed by Professor Aarno Ruusuvuori in the 1960s, the building originally served as the printing house of Weilin+Göös. In the early 2000s, it was transformed into a modern exhibition centre and today serves as home to two museums, the Mauri Kunnas world and Futuro House.

Wednesday 14 October features Historical Afternoons for seniors, focusing on public art that brings joy to residents across Espoo. Following the expert talk, the afternoon continues with a dance performance by the Jade community and a poetry concert interpreting Sirkka Turkka’s collection Yö aukeaa kuin vilja through spoken word, jazz and theatre.

Thursday 15 October and Saturday 17 October are dedicated to the youngest members of the family. On Thursday, Theatre Konna’s The Little Book of Emotions dives into the small and big emotions of life, while on Saturday, young museum visitors can enjoy performances by Pikku Papu Orchestra and Theatre ILMI Ö. The exhibition centre’s permanent Mauri Kunnas exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of beloved books through play and a treasure hunt. The traditional autumn holiday workshops will also take place at EMMA from Tuesday to Friday and at KAMU’s until Saturday. 

Friday 16 October kicks off the weekend in style as Tatskatytöt takes over the exhibition centre’s restaurant with What the q*iz??!. Aimed at young adults, the quiz covers trends, art, music, movies and pop culture – with some mysterious picture puzzles thrown in, too! Visitors can arrive with a group of friends or on their own, as teams are also available to join on the spot. Before the quiz, the audience can catch a live concert by pampulameri or meet new people on an art-themed Getting to Know Each Other Trail. DJ Laura Vartio will keep the evening going by spinning records in the restaurant until 10pm. 

Sunday 18 October brings the anniversary week to a close with a programme dedicated to Futuro House. Film director and visual artist Mika Taanila has curated the film screening Plastic Age, celebrating the era of Futuro, followed by a guided tour of the house. Futuro House can be visited during the exhibition centre’s opening hours throughout the anniversary week before it closes for the winter season.
