Expert Tour of the Arte Povera – A New Chapter
At 16–17, EMMA’s exhibition space
One of the curators of the exhibition, Nella Aarne, talks about the background of the exhibition and the selection of the artworks. Time has been reserved for audience questions.
Arte Povera – A New Chapter explores how women artists have worked in the spirit of the arte povera movement from the 1960s to the present. Arte Povera, directly translating as ‘poor art’, refers to an art movement that emerged in Italy in the late 1960s. Artists in this movement created works using modest, everyday and discarded materials.
The tour is in English.
Music in the Spirit of Arte Povera: Lucio Battisti
At 17.00–17.15, Delicatessen WeeGee
The event will feature Lucio Battisti’s production from Italy in the late 1960s, performed by Luca Gargano.
Luca Gargano is an Italian-Finnish singer, guitarist, and producer-artist. He has released three solo albums in English and, with his band Koskelainen, two albums in Finnish. Additionally, he has performed for over 20 years in cover bands and as a troubadour, playing, among other things, Italian music.
Lucio Battisti (1943–1998) was an Italian singer-songwriter and composer. He is widely recognized for songs that defined the late 1960s and 1970s era of Italian songwriting.
Dinner the Tapiola Way
From 17.15 onwards, Delicatessen WeeGee’s terrace
The food philosophy cucina povera, inspired by the Arte Povera art movement, literally translates to “poor kitchen” and draws from the culinary traditions of central and southern Italy, emphasizing simple ingredients. The “more with less” ideology highlights easily accessible ingredients and hearty, flavorful dishes. Dinner will be served in a communal setting on Delicatessen WeeGee’s terrace, where guests sit at long tables and serve themselves from large, shared dishes.
The menu includes Delicatessen WeeGee’s take on pasta Puttanesca, a dish originating from Naples, traditionally made using inexpensive pantry ingredients. The evening begins with delicious burrata and tomatoes, followed by a mouthwatering tiramisu for dessert – all accompanied by Delicatessen WeeGee’s recommended wine pairings. The wine is not included in the dinner ticket.
Come and experience the warm Italian atmosphere at Delicatessen WeeGee! Benvenuto!
