WeeGee Live: April Jazz Club | A.H. South-East Corner
April Jazz Club + WeeGee is a series of intimate concerts in museum surroundings. The series is a co-production between April Jazz Club, Exhibition Centre WeeGee and EMMA. On Fridays, we offer free admission from 3pm onwards.
South-East Corner is a jazz ensemble led by drummer Arttu Huopainen. Their music blends the traditions of jazz with themes rooted in his home region. The combination of various saxophones, double bass, and drum set forms an airy-sounding group that offers a wide palette of tonal colors. Expect diverse rhythms, lyrical themes, and plenty of room for improvisation.
Arttu Huopainen (b. 1998) is an active freelance musician based in the Helsinki metropolitan area. His playing can be heard in ensembles such as the Sointi Jazz Orchestra, Syskofrenia, TRI-, guitarist Juha Björninen’s Tuigu, and many others.
