The second floor of Exhibition Centre WeeGee’s south wing will be closed for renovations that begin in November 2026. The renovations cover the Bryk & Wirkkala Visible Storage and the Mauri Kunnas and Draped – Art of Printed Fabrics exhibitions.

This year, Exhibition Centre WeeGee celebrates its 20th anniversary at the WeeGee Building, designed by professor Aarno Ruusuvuori in the 1960s. This unique concrete brutalist building requires regular maintenance for its facilities to continue serving the diverse activities of the museums. The November renovation is a regular part of the building’s maintenance and development.

At EMMA, the Bryk & Wirkkala Visible Storage, a permanent exhibition, and the Draped – Art of Printed Fabrics temporary exhibition will be closing on 1 November. The Mauri Kunnas exhibition at Exhibition Centre WeeGee will remain open until 15 November.

During the renovation, the displays of the Bryk & Wirkkala Visible Storage will receive a 10th anniversary update. The renewed Bryk & Wirkkala Visible Storage and the ever-popular Mauri Kunnas exhibition will reopen in summer 2027. We will announce the exact reopening date later. Other parts of Exhibition Centre WeeGee will remain open as usual during the renovation.

  • The WeeGee Building, an example of iconic concrete brutalism, was originally the printing house of Weilin+Göös. In the early 2000s, the building was renovated to house exhibitions, leading to the opening of Exhibition Centre WeeGee in October 2006.
  • EMMA’s Bryk & Wirkkala Visible Storage houses the collection of the Tapio Wirkkala Rut Bryk Foundation, which includes over 5,000 objects and works of art by artist couple Tapio Wirkkala (1915–1985) and Rut Bryk (1916–1999). The space is a unique combination of a warehouse, exhibition and a work space.
  • WeeGee’s Mauri Kunnas exhibition highlights the life’s work of author Mauri Kunnas (1950-), inviting visitors to step into the world of his beloved children’s books through play.
