The President of the Republic of Finland has awarded EMMA’s Executive Director, Pilvi Kalhama, the honour of Knight of the Order of the White Rose of Finland
This prestigious honour is given to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional merit in their professional field or in notable societal roles.
Pilvi Kalhama (PhLic) has made a significant contribution to the vitality and internationalisation of Finnish visual arts and design for over two decades. Alongside her extensive professional and trustee roles, she is widely recognised as a versatile curator, writer, researcher, and advisor in the field.
Kalhama has served as the Executive Director of EMMA since 2012. Under her leadership, the museum has achieved remarkable success, including enhancing its international profile, receiving the Finnish Museum of the Year award in 2018, and setting an all-time visitor record in 2023.
