Katarina Reuter: Black Crow Blues
Katarina Reuter (b. 1964) creates images of nature, the surrounding area and the worlds of microorganisms with subtle and precise brush strokes. The landscapes and spaces depicted by the artist, who has an affinity for natural sciences, are layered and ambiguous. The works feeding the imagination contain both tranquility and something of the unknown. Paintings of the exhibition also include reflections on biodiversity and our relationship with nature. At the same time, Reuters’ way of working links the artist to the classical tradition of painting.
Time within a painting is slow. With the help of spatial planning, colour and light, the curation process has aimed at creating a peaceful exhibition space for examining the details of the works.
The exhibition is part of the Fine Arts Academy of Finland’s award received by the artist in 2022. EMMA has produced the exhibition in collaboration with the Fine Arts Academy of Finland and the City of Espoo.
As part of the exhibition, the visitor can experiment with the thinking aloud method for sharing one’s art experience with other museum guests.
