Tuesday 13 October 1:00–3:00 PM | Composing Images in the Mirror World
What elements make up an image? In this workshop, we will explore composition using everyday objects and our own bodies in an exciting mirrored environment. What happens to a composition when we move closer to or farther away from one another?
We will experiment with space, perspective and visual relationships inside a mirror installation, observing how reflections transform what we see. Finally, together we will create a large three-dimensional artwork on a mirrored surface using pipe cleaners and modelling clay. Through the mirror, the artwork can be viewed from multiple angles, revealing a different experience for each participant.

Wednesday 14 October 1:00–3:00 PM | The Dance of Lines
A line goes here and there, up and down, and all around. A line is movement. In this workshop, we will explore the movement of lines through our bodies and discover movement in works of art.
After observing and experimenting, we will create a collaborative drawing using a variety of drawing tools, filling the paper with lines that twist, leap and dance in every direction. The programme includes interpreting art together as well as gentle movement, with everyone participating in a way that feels comfortable to them.

Thursday 15 October 1:00–3:00 PM | Blue Sun
Does the colour blue taste sweet or sour? Colours influence us every day, evoking different thoughts, feelings and sensations. Together, we will explore the colours used in artworks and discuss the emotions and impressions they create. How would these works look if their colours changed?
Inspired by our observations, participants will create their own collage artworks by tearing and arranging coloured papers. The finished collages can be taken home as a keepsake.

Friday 16 October 1:00–3:00 PM | From Shapes to Faces
If you look around, you will find shapes everywhere: in artworks, buildings, clothing and everyday objects. Using EMMA’s architecture and artworks as inspiration, we will explore different shapes and how they interact with one another.
How can a complete image, or even a human face, emerge from just a few simple forms? We will search the exhibition for interesting shapes and use our discoveries to create our own stamps. By combining, repeating and rotating the stamps, we will make portraits on paper. Can a circle become a mouth and a square become a nose?
Participants can take their handmade stamps home with them.
