EMMA has received The Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label in recognition of the museum’s valuable long-term work toward sustainable tourism. The label and programme, developed by Visit Finland for tourism companies, informs international travelers of sustainable practices of the destination.

To qualify for the STF label, the destination must meet specific criteria. For example, it must commit to national principles and indicators of sustainable tourism, communicate transparently about its sustainability efforts, and submit a sustainable tourism development plan that addresses the economic, ecological, and socio-cultural dimensions of sustainability.

EMMA’s EcoCompass certificate has also been renewed for the season 2024–2027. The certificate demonstrates our commitment to ongoing and concrete work promoting sustainability. With the support of the environmental programme, we continually develop our performance to become more and more sustainable museum. In the future, we will focus on calculating the museum’s carbon footprint and actively communicating our environmental actions. Additionally, we will continue and develop the important work of our Vihreä kädenjälki (Green handprint) team.
