Early childhood education

Art learning starts small!

Visiting an art museum supports children’s cultural learning and the development of interaction, emotional and expressive skills. Play and imagination are essential ingredients of art.

Our tours for daycare centers are functional, participatory and playful. We take the children’s age into account in the selection of artworks, the methods used and the pace of the tour.

Guided tours are fee for early childhood education groups. We offer tours for daycare and school groups also in the mornings starting at 9:00. Please note that in the mornings before the opening of the museum at 11:00, the exhibition spaces can only be visited with a guide.

Tours offered to preschool groups are subject to a fee. However, preschool groups from Espoo can book a tour as a free KULPS tour.

Culture Call

EMMA is participitating in the Culture Call project of Espoo’s cultural services and early childhood education. Every year, around ten daycare centers receive an invitation to take part in activities planned by EMMA, which enable experiencing art as part of the daily routines of early childhood education in Espoo.

The activities consists of a material package put together by EMMA, which the daycare center can borrow and with which the educator can implement an art project in their own group. A few daycare centers in Espoo are invited to participate in the Culture Call program at a time.

At the beginning of each semester, EMMA invites representatives of daycare centers to a training session, which provides the necessary materials for guiding the art education material package.  The material package is mailed to the daycare center before the training day. The loan period for the material package is one term at a time (approximately 3 months).
