Espoo Museum of Modern Art
Among the most iconic of Daniel Buren’s works are those made with flag, which feature his signature ‘visual tool’, 8.7 cm-wide vertical stripes. This work Ployer/Déployer 105 Couleurs aux vents created especially for Tapionaukio square consists of 105 yellow, red, turquoise, green and violet flags designed by the artist. The changing weather and light conditions create a play of movement, sound, and colours. The work is thus constantly changing in dialogue with the natural surroundings and daily goings-on in the city square.
