Come and find some light in the darkest time of the year! A glimmer will soon appear in the Venturo House in Espoo’s Tapiola district as artist Pasi Rauhala’s (b. 1978) light installation, Kudos, brings the building to new brilliance. We will unveil the artwork on Saturday, 16 November, at 3 pm as part of Tapiola’s holiday season opening – we wish you warmly welcome!

Based on light and movement, Kudos is Rauhala’s tribute to the design and conceptual ideology of architect Matti Suuronen (1933–2013), the designer of Venturo. As is typical of the artist’s work, the installation combines spatiality and experiential elements, along with the artist’s interest in public space and architecture. The artwork will be on display 24 hours a day until the end of February.

Programme for the opening event (in Finnish):
Opening words: Henna Paunu, Chief Curator, EMMA
Artist interview: Pasi Rauhala, artist & Henna Paunu, Chief Curator, EMMA
Ribbon cutting and flowers for the artist

The Original Sokos Hotel Tapiola Garden will serve warm glögi during the event from 3 pm to 4 pm.

Location: Tapionpuisto, in front of the Ainoa shopping centre

Pasi Rauhala’s Kudos (2024) has been created in collaboration with EMMA and City Events Espoo. Its aim is to bring joy and light to residents and passers-by through public art. Kudos will also be part of the Lux Helsinki light art festival taking place in January. The opening event is organised in collaboartion with shopping centres AINOA and Länsituuli.
