Maaria Wirkkala’s new artwork Mind Mosaic is founded on the basic unit of Rut Bryk’s thinking and art: the ceramic module. The work is a biography without words. Mind Mosaic will be on display at EMMA until 14 April, when it will travel to Japan as part of the Rut Bryk touring exhibition. The artwork is realized on traditional Japanese teabox lids. In Japan, the work will be displayed on the teaboxes as a whole.

A new documentary Rut Bryk – Touch of a Butterfly, produced by EMMA, is shown in the space 3.4.–5.5.2019.

You may get a glimpse of behind the scenes museum work in the Bryk & Wirkkala Visible Storage. Works by Rut Bryk, going on an exhibition tour to Japan, and works by Tapio Wirkkala, on their way to an exhibition at the Murano Glass Museum in Italy, are being packed.

Rut Bryk’s works are first shown at the Tokyo Station Gallery 27.4.–16.6.2019, after which they are exhibited at several museums in Japan until September 2020.

Tapio Wirkkala’s exhibition in Italy is curated by Harri Koskinen and Marco Romanelli, and open for public 7.5. –29.9.2019.
