Everything About Art is a KULPS tour at EMMA that serves as an introduction to art. We will explore what art can be and how it affects us and the world. The tour is a fun introduction to different ways of looking at art and for choosing your favourite approach. It offers ideas for creative thinking as well as new and surprising ways of looking at art the world.

KULPS tour at EMMA
Everything About Ar offers ideas for creative thinking as well as new and surprising ways of looking at art. The tour ends with a playful test to see what kinds of art lovers we are.
The KULPS tour at EMMA is a To Your Heart’s Content destination that pre-school groups and school classes in Espoo can attend free of charge as often as they wish.
Structure
The programme consists of an lead-in exercise, a guided tour at the museum, and a follow-up assignment. The lead-in exercise prompts students to examine works of art from different perspectives and awakens their curiosity about art. The tour at the museum showcases the many ways one can look at art. Students also get to share their experiences with others in the group. The tour ends with a playful test to see what kinds of art lovers we are. The follow-up assignment is designed to encourage students to continue exploring art in their everyday environment, and to look for aspects in art that speak to them.
Contents
The KULPS tour introduces students to art using participatory activities. Although the main content is the same for every grade, the tour will be adapted to suit different age levels. The KULPS tour at EMMA explores the Saastamoinen Foundation collection. The tour can also include a brief stop at the temporary exhibitions, if requested in advance.
Objective
The KULPS tour is designed to help students understand different artistic techniques and methods. The aim is to learn to understand the messages of art and how they relate to the student’s own life. Active participation and experimentation with different ways of experiencing art serve to strengthen the students’ relationship with art and helps them find a form of culture that supports their personal creativity. Appreciation of art supports identity building, self-expression and learning. The content of the KULP tour is designed on the basis of the national curriculum. It supports in particular the learning foundations L1, L2 and L4 of the curriculum.
